I just spent an hour writing my post and Weebly automatically logged me out and I lost everything. Well, here is a video for this week instead.
This week I traveled to Rocklin, California, and trained at Infinite Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with Sensei's Darlynson Lira, Damokles Lira and Carlos Rocha. Professor Gustavo Enriquez was very gracious in having us and his students welcomed us with open arms. I also met with Tom Callos, the originator of the Ultimate Black Belt. Tom encouraged me to be more transparent with the process and to expose the videos we've been filming. I've been hesitant to do this for a number reasons. First, I'm very sensitive to the fact that I haven't made the progress I've expected for weight loss. This is the #1 objective for me in this whole adventure. I don't believe that you should be teaching martial arts if you are overweight and/or obese. How do you preach discipline if you have none yourself? Secondly, I do not like putting myself out there for people to criticize. When you put yourself out on the web it lives for a long time and people love to critique. Unlike what a lot of people say, I do care what people say. Finally, I do not want come off in anyway as narcissistic. What I'm doing is the opposite of this behavior, but I want people to know that I'm doing it to inspire others and most importantly, myself.
I know to create change I have to be able to myself out there. As of today, that is what I'm going to do. I'm going to be as transparent as possible and share my struggles, wins and losses.
I've uploaded 5 of the videos and will add one every other week to my Youtube channel.
I hope you enjoy!
So it's been 5 months since doing the UBBT and while I'm still doing the sit ups, pushups, miles and martial arts, I'm not getting the results I'm looking for. My weight has not lowered since early on and I've been playing with my diet with a high intensity workout regimen. I believe I have found the combination and have been doing it since Monday the 4th. I'm also going to get blood work done because with the diet I've maintained for the past 5 months, I shouldn't be at net 0.
My elbow has also been a source of frustration. I've been in pain every day since January and I've tried everything under the sun, except surgery. I started using cannabis lotion earlier this week and I've actually seen some relief. I'm using the Pain Relief product from Apothecanna and certainly recommend it. I've been putting it on in the morning and at night. The past couple of nights have been the first in over 3 weeks that I didn't wake up in pain. While I'm not a user of marijuana, I certainly endorse the many uses it produces including hemp products. For more information go to http://apothecanna.com.
Don Franks has been doing martial arts since the age of 5. He is an advocate for seniors and children with special needs. Currently, he is the CEO of Ed Support Services, an Applied Behavior Analysis agency in Oakland, California.
